Coke Removal

NLB 3750 Tank Cleaning Head Removes Coke in One-Fifth the Time

A major Canadian cleaning contractor wanted to put our 3750 nozzle to the ultimate test so he used it on a vessel plugged with 7” (178 mm) thick coke. The vessel itself was 13’ (4 m) diameter and 25’ (7.6 m) high.

The cleaning was done with a 300 horsepower (224 kw) pump at 10,000 psi (700 bar) and 50 gpm (188 lpm). Total time to clean the vessel was 20 hours versus 100-plus hours using other methods in the past.

The contractor believes that the NLB 3750 nozzles delivers the water with greater impact than other similar designs, resulting in the faster and more thorough cleaning he experienced in this difficult application. He said that his biggest problem was in removing the loosened material as fast as the nozzle was clearing it.
